Moments of Truth are spotlights on employees that have demonstrated exceptional acts that go above and beyond their expected roles or duties.
Judy Tamayo has been employed at the same facility for over 19 years. She began her journey as a Certified Nursing Assistant and has worked her way up through many positions and now is the Director of Nursing.
Judy is dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents and ensuring that they receive professional, compassionate care. Although she takes her responsibilities very seriously, Judy also has a playful side. Each year the staff at Arbor Glen puts on a talent show for the residents. Judy is pictured leading a group of nurses in the now infamous “chicken dance.” Her energy and enthusiasm brings laughter and happiness into the lives of residents and staff on a daily basis, but on this day Judy brought the house down.
We are honored to have Judy as a leader at Arbor Glen Care Center.
When you place a call to Arbor Glen Care Center, the spunky voice that answers the phone belongs to Sara Acosta. Sara has worked at Arbor Glen Care Center for two years. Aside from manning the busy phone system, she also ensures that every employee receives a paycheck for their hours worked and maintains the accounts payable, so that our vendors receive payment for their services. Sara’s job is quite busy! Between phone calls, employee questions and vendor inquiries, she always has time for the residents.
Each day Sara makes her way around the facility visiting long time residents and chatting with those who have just arrived. On one of these daily journeys, Sara befriended Anna Perkins, a resident of Arbor Glen since 1996. Anna loves to watch movies, but cannot always get her hands on the latest releases. Sara rents movies, watches them, and then brings them in for Anna to watch the next day. Anna is so happy that Sara came into her life and we are happy that Sara is part of our team.
Sara, thanks for taking the time to always “Make Our Day”!
Reggie Dolores has been a Certified Nursing Assistant at Arbor Glen Care Center since August 2003. Reggie has a great attitude and is always willing to lend a helping hand to our Residents and his fellow co-workers. No job is too big or too small for Reggie, so when one of our Residents was given a new cellular phone, Reggie jumped right in to help.
Mrs. Hooper brought in a cellular phone for her husband, so that he could make and receive calls from his bed. Reggie helped them set up the phone, so that it would ring loudly enough for Mr. Hooper to hear, and then taught them how to make and receive calls. Mrs. Hooper writes:
“Not only is Reggie an excellent C.N.A., he took time to show us how to use a new cell phone. We are both grateful for Reggie and the excellent care and Customer Service that he has provided. ”
Thank You, Reggie, for all that you do for the Residents and staff of Arbor Glen Care Center. We are so happy that you are a member of our Team.
Prem Prasad has worked at Arbor Glen Care Center since 2002 as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Each day she arrives to work with a bright smile and proceeds to spread her sunny disposition throughout the facility. The residents at Arbor Glen can't help but smile when they speak with Prem, because her attitude and outlook on life are always positive and she helps them see the good even in a difficult situation. Prem takes pride in her work and always goes the extra mile for our residents. She also looks after those whose family members cannot visit regularly by mending their clothing when needed. It is not uncommon for Prem to ask permission to take articles of clothing home to repair, make necessary adjustments, or sew on a button or two.
We are so proud to have Prem as a member of the Arbor Glen Dream Team.
At Arbor Glen Care Center, we believe that our staff makes the difference. Not only are they professional and caring, their quality care must be accompanied by friendly, attentive service. Pastor Sibrian is an excellent example of this and always takes an extra few moments to help residents prepare for the day. Among the female residents, he is quite popular for his meticulous make up application, precision eye brow penciling, and excellent skill with a hair brush. The gentleman of Arbor Glen can always find themselves freshly shaven and dressed to the T. We are quite proud to have Pastor as a member of our team and want to extend a special Thank You for his commitment to excellence.
Mario Fortich, RN, is the kind of nurse that every facility dreams of having. He has a wonderful attitude, always smiles, makes the Residents laugh, and completes more than his share of work every day. For the past twelve years that Mario has worked at Arbor Glen as a charge nurse, he has not only cared for the Residents, but he has entertained them as well. Mario has a beautiful voice and can often be found in the dining room singing to the Residents. If the karaoke machine is out, chances are that Mario is not far away, but the entertainment does not stop there. Mario dresses up for the holidays and participates in all of the activities for both the Residents and the Staff.
Recently, we began a program that allows both Residents and Staff to nominate employees who have made a difference in their lives. The nominations for Mario are overwhelming! Resident comments include, “Mario always takes the time to make sure that I smile each day,” and “I know it’s not Mario’s job, but I love it when he comes in and sings to us”! Staff is always impressed with the extra time that Mario takes to talk to the Residents and trim their nails, and they unanimously agree that Mario has a very kind heart and is always willing to help.
The picture of Mario was taken recently on “International Day” during one of his many entertaining performances. The Residents and Staff of Arbor Glen Care Center are thankful for Mario and his wonderful sense of humor.
